The project "TETHYS Plus” represents a ambitious step forward in the evolution of precision agriculture, addressing and responding to global challenges increasingly pressing needs of the agricultural sector. In the current context, characterized by global population growth and climate change, the need to produce efficiently and sustainably becomes imperative.
Reference context
November 21, 2023 marks a significant step for the project, with the admission to financing through Determination G14867 of November 9, 2023, published in BUR Lazio 93 Supplement 1 of 11/21/2023. The objective of the application presented by the Evaluation Center is: the implementation of new services in the TETHYS application, in order to make the service more complete and commercially attractive for different types of agricultural companies. The TETHYS Plus project aims to improve the irrigation advice for tree crops, implement a precision fertilization service And develop a system for estimating water consumption at a territorial level.
Objectives and scope of intervention
TETHYS plus develops in response to impactful global trends, such as population growth and climate change, which directly influence food production. The crescent need to reduce the waste of resources and produce more efficiently and sustainably requires immediate action. In the agricultural context, theincrease in energy costs and production inputs pushes companies to seek IT and technological solutions to improve efficiency and ensure profitability. The project has the strategic objective of satisfying the growing demand for services in the precision agriculture sector, both following regional calls for support and for the spread of the culture of innovation and technology in the agricultural sector.
Expected results
The completion of the project will allow present increasingly complete, intuitive and convenient precision agriculture services on the market. L'automation of calculation procedures and evapotranspiration processing of crops and other similar variables on large surfaces will satisfy the growing demand from Reclamation Consortia and will contribute to meeting the needs of a public increasingly interested in the environmental sustainability of agricultural production, in line with national and community legislation.
Partners involved and roles
The “TETHYS plus” project actively involves Centrale Evaluation, which will develop the new application modules using the specialist support from the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio and the University of Tuscia, who represent the Research Organizations partners of the project. The activities to strengthen the irrigation council, implement precision fertilization and develop a system for the territorial estimation of water consumption also involve agronomists, experts in information technology And specialized engineers.
Budget and sources of financing
The project benefits from funding of 289,924.06 euros under the ERDF Regional Operational Program 2021-27 of the Lazio Region. This financial commitment by Region, State and EU reflects theimportance attributed to the project in the context of promoting innovation and sustainability in the agricultural sector, contributing to the achievement of the objectives established at regional, national and European level.
In conclusion, TETHYS Plus represents a significant step towards integrating advanced solutions into precision agriculture, responding to global challenges and local needs. The financial commitment and the partners involved place the project in a privileged position to achieve significant successes in the regional and national agricultural landscape.
